More About Me...

Hi, my name is Harlem and this is the companion website for the Fresh Ubuntu Podcast. I am the host of the show and along with my co-host Peter, we do a somewhat weekly account about anything that has to do with Ubuntu. Thanks for dropping by the site. Feel free to have a look around and click on some of the great links on the site. Enjoy!

Another Tid-Bit...

One last thing - I started the podcast in July of 2006, and we have been going strong since then. Initially, it started as my first forays into linux, but now has grown up a bit by delivering the best news, how-to's, and tutorials - all with a bent towards the Ubuntu distro. Subscribe for free using iTunes or other podcast receiver. Thanks again for dropping by!

I guess it is that time again, I wasn’t quite ready for it this time though. Don’t get me wrong, I was ready in the sense that I had all my articles and stuff I was going to talk about. I just wasn’t feeling like starting today, I was just sort of feeling blah as the title says. One observation I am seeing is that the show is coming along pretty good, seems to me that we are picking up more listeners every week, and we are at our highest subscribership to date. Which pleases me, but also worries me at the same time. Well, here is to more continued success in the future.

Well, I have officially lost count of the how many podcasts I have done but no biggie, I’ll just have to count them one of these days. So, it may be awhile:) Not much to say today other than we are now 100% more geeky with a brand new IRC chat room. We are talking old school, back to the Arpanet here! Check us out on #freshubuntu at freenode and we can now chat. Be seeing you.

GTD Primer Ogg File

Lots of exciting things going on the the world of Ubuntu this week, the beta is out and you can just about hear the bugs squashing that is going on and will be going til the release. I can say this that usually around this time of the release cycle that there is a lull in the news relating to Ubuntu which I like to think of it as the calm before the storm. So, instead of the usual news segment, we have a hybrid of sorts where we talk about links that we discovered since last week. I have also sprinkled in a few bits of news and announcements, namely the release of the beta which is old news since it was released last week. Better late than never I always say:) We also had a special guest this week who provided us with a “getting things done” primer. His name is Michael Ramm and can be followed on twitter. He talked to us about a few things we can do to start ourselves ont he road to GTD nirvana and pionted us to his blog Black Belt Productivity. He was a great guest, which most of my guests are and we were lucky to have him. Well, I will let you go to peruse the wonderful links that we have gathered, have a good week.

Peter’s Big Break

Peter’s Big Break Ogg file
Ok, just to change things up a bit, I let Peter do the hosting this week and I must say, “not too shabby!”. It also releved me of some of the talking duties which I don’t mind every now and then. In fact, I think Peter and I will trade off every week:) This week is the big beta freeze of the next release and now is when the anticipation starts for me. The pressure is mounting for the Ubuntu developers and the excitement is building for users around the world. If you are planning a release party, let us know about it so we can get the word out.
