Shownotes
This weeks podcast was of to a decent start. We were all, at least, in the same cyberspace talking in real time! Unlike last week where peter did the news, I did an interview and Knightwise did a review. We were also joined by a previous guest this week, Jason, who I called at the last minute just in case Peter wasn't able to help out this week. So, for a rare treat, listeners of Fresh Ubuntu get to hear not one, not two, but three opinions on the same subject matter. Wow, three for the price of two! I hate to say it but the same medication that Peter uses is forcing me to say, "that's a deal that you can shake a stick at!", whatever that means. We at least have that going for us but there is more! Peter did a couple of tech segments which I thanks him for and we have an interview with Nathan hale of the Productive Linux Podcast and Blog. I guess it was snowing in Abilene that day so the connection was a little touch and go, yet we still managed to git-r-done in good ol' Texas fashion. Peter and I had a great time talking Linux with Nathan and rather than bore you with my lame copy I am just going to give you the links mentioned in the show and wish you all a great rest of your week.

Great show, guys! You
Great show, guys!
You mentioned the wicd network manager (http://wicd.sourceforge.net/) and I've been using it for months on several PCs and love it. It solved a bunch of Gnome Network Manager problems for me including:
1. allows automatic connections to preferred networks
2. easy config of static IPs without having to login as admin.
3. allows connecting to networks with hidden SSIDs
4. shows signal strength when using static IPs
5. setting global DNS (I use OpenDNS)
I'd love to see Ubuntu replace Network Manager with wicd, or revamp Network Manager so it functions as well as wicd.
