interview

Well, we do have a podcast coming out but it seems we all did it seperately. Peter and I were unable to connect last week so he ended up doing the news while I interviewed Chad form the Linux Basement podcast! Then, from our European Bureau - we had Knightwise drop us a line about the ASUS eee pc. Fantastic! Throw in a Man-Page-Minute and suddenly you got yourself a podcast, how 'bout that! Hopefully we can get all synced up next time but you know how life can get in the way at times:) Oh. BTW, the theme music on the podcast was donated by Scott, who just happens to work with Peter and run his own blog. You can get to his site here. Also, the bumper music was part of the Internet Archive Open Source Music Project, and believe me this stuff is pretty good and free! Well, enjoy the podcast and have a great week.

This weeks format is a bit different from previous show as Peter called in sick this week. I hope he is feeling better, so instead I decided to do an interview. Fortunately, I had one set up for this week and I thought that this interview needed to be its own show rather than a segment of an episode. mainly because I couldn't do the news justice all by myself. It's just not the same without Peter helping out with the news. Anyways, this is a very fascinating interview with Emmett Stewart AKA the Cafe Ninja, who BTW, lives in Italy or rather an island off the coast of Italy. The power of the internet brought to you by Fresh Ubuntu. I had a lot of fun talking linux as Chess Griffin would say and enjoyable gentleman to speak to, very easy going and he's got a great voice. Which, surprisingly, he was using the built in Microphone supplied by the ASUS?!! I couldn't believe the depth and clarity of the mic and you'll hear me rave about it in the interview. This one thing alone I think is worth the purchase of The ASUS EEE but it offers so much more. Definitely something for everyone. Enjoy the podcast!

If UR a Mac

Our guest this week talks to with us about a recent blogpost about what a "typical" Mac user might miss when switching to the Ubuntu distro. And contrary to what the blogger might have written in the blog about what is missing or lacking in Ubuntu. We, or, at least I, discover that what Ubuntu lacks is not really as bad as one might think. The blog post about "10 Things I Miss About OSX" just begs to be posted to Digg jsut for the title alone. Nevermind the topic which in this case are two very attention getting topics to say the least. It turns out that I didn't have much to say about the subject as I am not familiar at all with OSX-Leopard. So we had to bring in a guest to help with the subject and the first thing we thought of was to bring in Scott who was formerly the host of the MacNu Podcast. Scott brought in a fresh set of eyes and a new perspective to potential Ubuntu users as well as Mac-Ubuntu dual booters! I must at this point apologize about the sound and at the moment I can not pinpoint the exact reason why it sounded so bad. All I know is that there was an echo which leads me to believe that one of us our speakers turned up way too much or our headsets were bleeding over. I tried to clean it up as much as I could but I am only human:( I hope you enjoy the podcast and if you have anything to add to the dialogue feel free to leave a comment or send and email to freshubuntu@gmail.com.
